Why Do I Need to Pay for Access?

I hate paywalls as much as the next guy, having been annoyed repeatedly by the New York Times, the South Morning China Post, and many other sites when all I want to do is to read one interesting snippet but don't want to pay five dollars for two paragraphs.

However, the truth of the matter is that I'm not a multi-billion international company, nor am I an ex-Googler with millions in the bank to invest in a company. I'm just a normal guy typing on a computer to make a living, so I don't have the time and energy to moderate forums, delete spammers, fight trolls, and all of the other fun things that comes with running a public website where people can create their own stuff.

By paying a dollar, this adds a small but useful cost to using this site that will keep out 99.9999% of spammers, trolls, and trouble makers. You'll also contribute to such useful things as being able to pay for faster servers, getting that M1 Macbook that I've been eyeing for some time, and giving me more time to devote to making the site better for everyone.

If you have a bit of disposable income, please consider helping me out. :)

Privacy

This site has no ads, no third party scripts, or anything else that might compromise your privacy or security. You are not being tracked. I am not selling you to another company. Your stuff is your stuff unless you deliberately choose to share your stuff with someone else.

Payments are done through Stripe, and only they keep your financial information. The only thing that I do is receive notification that you have paid.

When registering, the only real information that you need to provide is your email address. Everything else is entirely up to you. Be as public or as private as you want. Just respect others and do nothing that will harm someone else. There are only a couple of users that I have banned from this site with no refunds. Don't add to my list. ;)
